Too often, I see leaders taking their cues from other leaders. Even if the leader they’re imitating is one they don’t admire or even respect. I ask myself why? What makes people strive to do what others have done poorly?
Let’s pause for a little story about Joy.
When I was young, probably around four, five max, I made a decision that I would not do anything to anyone that didn’t feel good being done to me. I’m EXTRA PROUD to say that I’ve held true since. 🙏🏾
As a result, it baffles me when time and time again I hear leaders talk about toxic bosses, managers with unrealistic expectations, or skip-levels who clearly manipulate by playing favorites. Yet, those same leaders turn around and behave in similar, if not the same, ways.
So how do leaders prevent the spread of dysfunction?
