People love to talk about or just drop the word strategy in sentences. There’s a belief, as well as research that confirms people who utilize the word are perceived as more competent.
However, before we talk strategy, we need to talk business. Before we talk business, we need to talk leadership. Before we talk leadership, we need to talk leadership development.
Many engineering leaders are winging it. They either have had zero or little leadership training. Or, they had a generic leadership training that’s peanut buttered across every leader in the organization, regardless of their role.
