People readily admit that AI suffers from hallucinations. However, people shy away from or vehemently deny admitting that other people suffer from hallucinations.
Let’s level-set on the definition. AI hallucinations are when Generative AI produces false, misleading, or nonsensical information while confidently presenting it as fact.
What does that look like, Joy?
Have you ever worked with someone who proclaimed X, Y, or Z, and with a whisper of truth, the entire house came down? That’s an example of a Hallucinating Leader.
Here are two Exceptional Leader practices to keep in mind.
1️⃣ Discern, Validate & Verify
↳ Regardless of the information shared and whoever shares it, discern, validate, and verify–all the time.
2️⃣ Avoid Hallucinating
↳ Double-check the information that you share. Seek out multiple and varied sources in order to confirm your thoughts before speaking your thoughts.
↳ BONUS: Admitting when you don’t know is a cheat code that unlocks new levels for both you and your team. Your team feels their contributions are welcomed and valued, and gains more trust and respect for your leadership.
