Had an awesome team member. He was a frontend wonder. He was collaborative, diligent, reliable, and always willing to take on new challenges. Truly, he was a 10/10!
One day during our 1:1, he delicately mentioned he had been looking for a new role. When I asked him about his motivation, he indicated he wanted to work with different technologies and expand his skillset.
My response, “Excellent! Congratulations! Let me know if I can help in any way. Happy to be your reference.”
He paused, visibly emotional, then he shared that leaving me as a manager was one of the most difficult parts about moving on.
I thanked him for his kind words.ππΎ
I left that 1:1 feeling affirmed that I was showing up as the Exceptional Leader I set out to be. Good job, Joy! ππΎ
